Destroy Athletics Custom T-Shirt

We collaborated with Destroy Athletics, a company very well known for their line of extreme sports and martial arts clothing. For their t-shirt, we used a half tone image of a custom logo with Dragons, Crest, Crown and Latin Text Design, and we printed with discharge ink. The results were amazing!

Discharge screen printing is a way of printing with traditional screen printing equipment.

This process allows water-based inks to be applied to certain dischargeable dark colored garments to produce very bright, soft prints. As the discharge inks are printed and heat cured, the original dyes on the garment are being reduced, (discharged) from the image area and the printed image is bonded to the fabric. The result is a brightly colored, opaque print which has been applied directly to a virtually undyed area of the fabric. This results in prints that are soft and full of color.

A halftone is a printable version of a photograph.

When a screen printer outputs a graphic that contains gradients onto films, what they are really outputting are these halftones. Halftones convert the various tints or shades that make up the original image into very small dots. Printers can adjust the angle, frequency and shape of these dots to increase or decrease the dot size of the halftones.  The larger dots contain more space in between them, more visible gradient appearance. The smaller dots have less space between them, tighter, smoother gradient appearance. Looking at a screen printed tee that has gradients, you will see these patterns.

Working with these two techniques worked to give the Destroy Athletics the edge that its customers look for in their brand.
